Lake Powell 2011

Going to Lake Powell with the Stegelmeiers at least once a year has been sort of a tradition now for the past few years. They are part-owner of a house boat and so we are able to go stay with them on the house boat. It is such a fun vacation for the kids and the adults. The weather was great for two of the days.

The 2nd day was wet and rainy but we made the most of it by hiking and just hanging out instead of water skiing, etc.

Aubree has gotten a lot braver as she has grown up. She was scaring me a little bit on some of the climbs she was doing. She would run up and down the red rock with no problem.

There were a few "firsts" for the kids on this trip. Kylee got up on water skis for the first time! It was so fun to see her do it. Aubree dared to go on the knee board and actually pulled herself up onto her knees for the first time, and both Aubree and Braden jumped OFF the platform at the top of the house boat into the water. I COULD NOT believe it! Braden continued to jump off again and again. It is so high. I'm sure that seeing other little people do it helped because Quinn and Kaison had been doing it before them. I am impressed they had the courage because it is scary!

The most fun thing I think the kids do while at Lake Powell is go TUBING. They love it and would stay on for hours if we would let them! Amy and I even took a turn and it really is fun.

Okay, funny story. While on our hike, Krehl was up ahead of us with his kids. I don't remember which one of his kids had to "go" if you know what I mean. Anyway, when we caught up, Krehl's shirt sleeve had been ripped off. What a nice dad to sacrifice his shirt for the cleanliness of his child's back side! He had ripped his sleeve off to provide some TP for his son!
